Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Round Rock is seeking a Surgical Technologist 2 to support the operating room team. You will scrub in, prepare the instrument table, and ensure sterile setup and instruments are ready for each case under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with draping, passing sterile supplies, maintaining instrument counts, and supporting safe patient care throughout the surgical procedure in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited surgical technology program.
• CST certification by NBSTSA or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery.
• Scrub in and prepare instruments before the surgeon scrubs in.
• Prepare and maintain instrument table in organized way.
• Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies.
• Set up the OR per procedure and ensure sterile setup.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments as per policy.
• Anticipate needs and pass sterile supplies to surgeons and assistants.
• Assist with draping and positioning the patient.
• Receive surgical specimens and verify source.
• Assist with placement of dressings after case completion.
• Disassemble instruments and arrange for decontamination.
• Prepare soiled instrumentation for transport to decontamination.
• Ensure cleaning, decontamination, sterilization of instruments.
• Clean the operating room after each case and return equipment to storage.
• Follow infection control and regulatory guidelines for safety.
• Ensure orientation and knowledge of equipment before patient use.
• Maintain inventory of sterile equipment and supplies.
