Job summary

Advocate Health, part of Aurora Medical Group, seeks a Surgery Scheduler to support providers, coordinate with patients, and ensure a seamless, compassionate experience daily in ambulatory care settings.

Responsibilities include scheduling procedures, communicating changes, obtaining labs and imaging, and processing patient charges while maintaining efficient OR flow and excellent patient service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in a health care setting performing customer service functions (scheduling, registration, insurance authorization and/or patient billing).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of surgical procedures between physicians and offices, OR time, anesthesia, and other departments; communicate changes to ensure maximum utilization of rooms and equipment.
• Schedule next-day and beyond procedures; maintain and distribute future OR schedules; notify providers of changes.
• Obtain necessary lab work, x-rays, and H&P as applicable.
• Process patient charges and calculate based on procedure type, length, and supplies; review revenue and verify code accuracy.
• Answer, screen, triage, prioritize, and determine urgency of incoming calls; act as a resource to providers, staff, patients and families.
• Operate and troubleshoot office equipment; manage inventory and supplies.
