Job summary

MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. The role covers intraoperative scrub and circulating duties, serving neonate to geriatric patients, with emphasis on patient safety and teamwork.

The position requires ADN with BSN preferred, Iowa RN license, BLS, and OR experience is a plus. 36 hours weekly, Day shift, no on-call, holidays, or weekends; equal opportunity employer and supportive leadership environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• BSN is preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license is required.
• Operating Room experience is preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
• Prepares for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and OR team.
• Provides a safe environment by applying aseptic technique and managing the environment.
• Maintains equipment knowledge and room setup.
• Documents in the surgical record and disposition of specimens.
• Participates in department meetings and performance improvement activities.
