Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. This role involves scrub and circulating duties during intraoperative care, serving diverse patient populations from neonate to geriatric, with an evening 11:00 am–9:30 pm shift and a 1.0 FTE schedule.

The RN will follow Trinity Health and MercyOne Mission, participate in performance improvement, and maintain collaboration with the OR team. A strong commitment to ethical, compassionate care is essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing is required.
• BSN is preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license (MercyOneGenesis) required at time of hire; multi-state license within 12 months.
• Operating Room experience is preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Must work well in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Must possess honesty, integrity, and caring, to inspire others.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
• Prepares for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and OR team.
• Provides a safe environment by adhering to aseptic technique and managing the environment.
• Collects and analyzes data for nursing diagnoses.
• Communicates effectively with patient, staff, physicians, and families.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and function and assists in turnover.
