Job summary

MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to provide perioperative patient care in both scrub and circulating roles. The ideal candidate will support neonatal to geriatric patients, adhere to aseptic standards, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

This full-time OR position offers a day shift with a 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week), and a focus on surgical case efficiency, safety, and patient-centered care within a Level IV Trauma Center setting.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is required.
• Experience in operating room settings preferred.
• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities are expected.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on surgical cases independently with minimal direction.
• Prepares for procedures, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and OR team.
• Maintains a safe environment with aseptic technique and organized workflows.
• Performs intraoperative patient care in scrub and circulating roles.
• Documents surgical events and manages equipment and room turnover.
• Contributes to departmental performance improvement initiatives.
