Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an Operating Engineer (Union) to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment across assigned properties in New York. The role includes rounds, preventive maintenance, and safety-focused housekeeping to support reliable facility operations.

Responsibilities include coordinating with contractors, maintaining reports, and adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred.
• 5+ years of related trade experience in operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for buildings.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and monitor activities and projects.
• Perform preventive maintenance: change filters, lubricate motors, replace lamps/ballasts/fixtures, inspect belts, bearings and adjust equipment.
• Develop and maintain building-specific maintenance procedures and coordinate with outside contractors.
• Maintain stock/inventory and respond to emergencies and safety incidents.
