Job summary

Databricks is seeking a leader to manage open source Developer Advocates and deepen engagement with Apache and Linux Foundation communities. You will drive technical storytelling, community trust, and adoption across the Open Lakehouse stack including Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Iceberg, MLflow, and Omnigent.

You will build and scale a developer relations team, coach advocates, and deliver high-impact content and events while partnering with product, engineering, and R&D to align roadmaps

Qualifications

• 8+ years of combined experience in developer relations or a hands-on technical role.
• 2+ years managing and growing a developer relations team.
• Substantial, verifiable open source track record with governance and community norms.
• Established relationships within the Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation.
• Deep knowledge of the Open Lakehouse stack — Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Iceberg, MLflow, and Omnigent.
• Exceptional communication skills with writing, teaching, video, and public speaking.

Responsibilities

• Own developer relations for our open source portfolio end-to-end: set strategy and be accountable for outcomes.
• Hire, level, and grow a team of Developer Advocates with clear expectations and growth paths.
• Strengthen Databricks' standing as a trusted, vendor-neutral participant in ASF and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
• Establish repeatable advocacy approaches (content flywheels, guides, event playbooks) for DevRel.
• Grow external adoption and contributions across open source projects and develop maintainers.
• Drive awareness of Open Lakehouse and Omnigent through speaking at events and on-stage presentations.
• Create high-quality educational content (videos, notebooks, datasets, tutorials, courseware, blogs).
• Expand communities with meetups and user groups and support practitioners in online channels.
• Represent the community inside R&D and align contributor needs with roadmaps.
• Apply AI-assisted workflows to scale impact while preserving depth.
• Define meaningful success metrics for open source DevRel and communicate them to executives.
