Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Developer Advocate Manager for Open Source to lead a global DevRel team, drive the strategy for Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow, and deepen ties with Apache and the Linux Foundation. You will guide content, events, and programs, while ensuring high-quality education and broad external adoption of Databricks open source projects.

You will mentor advocates, establish measurable success metrics, and collaborate with product and engineering to align community

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in developer relations or advocacy with hands-on technical work.
  • 2+ years leading a DevRel team.
  • Proven open source track record and governance experience.
  • Established relationships with Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Own developer relations for open source portfolio end-to-end.
  • Hire, level, and grow a team of Developer Advocates.
  • Strengthen Databricks' standing in Apache and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
  • Develop repeatable advocacy approaches and event playbooks.
  • Grow external open source adoption and contribute across projects.
  • Speak at industry events to raise Open Lakehouse and Omnigent awareness.
  • Create high-quality educational content (videos, notebooks, tutorials).
  • Expand communities through meetups and online forums.
  • Represent community needs to R&D and prioritize roadmap.
  • Apply AI-assisted workflows to boost team output.
  • Define meaningful success metrics and report to executives.
