Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Senior Developer Advocate Manager for Open Source to lead our DevRel for open source projects such as Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, and Iceberg. You will mentor a team of advocates, drive an open source strategy with a vendor-neutral stance, and collaborate closely with product and engineering to align community needs with roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of combined experience in developer relations or a hands-on technical role.
• 2+ years managing and growing a developer relations team, including hiring, leveling, and promoting advocates.
• Established relationships within the Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
• Deep knowledge of the Open Lakehouse stack — Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Apache Iceberg, and MLflow.
• Proven track record in nurturing developer communities and organizing user groups and meetups.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts through writing, teaching, video, and public speaking.

Responsibilities

• Own developer relations for our open source portfolio end-to-end — set the strategy and define success.
• Hire, level, and grow a team of Developer Advocates and guide their career paths.
• Strengthen Databricks' standing in ASF and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
• Establish repeatable advocacy approaches and event playbooks for DevRel teams to adopt.
• Grow external adoption and contributions across open source projects and help mentors grow.
• Lead speaking engagements at industry events to raise awareness and adoption of Open Lakehouse.
• Create high-quality educational content: videos, notebooks, tutorials, and blog posts.
• Expand communities by growing meetups and user groups and supporting online forums.
• Represent the community inside R&D and translate contributor feedback into roadmap changes.
• Apply AI-assisted workflows to scale team output while preserving depth.
