Job summary

Transdev is seeking a Transit Safety Manager to lead location safety programs, ensure compliance with FTA/DOT/OSHA, and drive continuous improvement for employees, passengers and the public. The role includes developing training, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating safety audits across facilities and operations.

The position requires a safety-minded leader with 3+ years of supervisory experience, knowledge of PTASP, and strong communication skills. Travel about 15% is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and regulatory compliance programs.
• Strong knowledge of transit safety regulations and PTASP requirements.
• Ability to interpret regulations and implement compliance programs.
• Experience in safety management and/or operations management at a location.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with FTA, DOT, OSHA, and state regulations.
• Coordinate safety program reviews and updates.
• Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction per PDOP specifications.
• Ensure all safety and training SOPs are current and meet location needs.
• Document training activities and maintain training records.
• Lead safety audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and operational reviews.
• Investigate incidents and perform root-cause analysis; retrain as needed.
• Lead drug and alcohol program with random testing and audits.
• Support emergency planning, drills, and business continuity activities.
• Coordinate pre-employment and onboarding processes.
• Travel 15% to facilities and operations sites.
