Job summary

The People Concern offers compassionate housing and support services to homeless individuals across Los Angeles County. This full-time Support Specialist position is based at the Kensington Campus in Lancaster, CA and requires onsite evening shifts.

You will be the first point of contact for clients, monitor the floor, assist with basic needs, complete HMIS documents, and help maintain a safe, trauma-informed environment.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of related work experience.
• Excellent customer service and ability to handle difficult situations.
• Ability to work independently and think critically.
• Professional conduct in all circumstances.
• Commitment to community empowerment and dignity.
• Familiarity with non-violent crisis intervention.
• Ability to use a computerized database system.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for client needs and requests.
• Monitor the floor and ensure program guidelines are followed.
• Be visible on the floor and engage with clients.
• Complete incident reports and HMIS updates.
• Develop trusting relationships with clients using client-centered approaches.
• Intervene during crises to de-escalate situations.
• Work as part of a team to provide integrated care.
