Job summary

The People Concern is seeking a dedicated Support Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for clients within the Interim Housing program on-site in Los Angeles. You will monitor the floor, assist with daily needs, and help maintain a safe, respectful environment that promotes client stability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year experience in related work.
• Ability to handle difficult situations with customers.
• Ability to work independently and think critically.

Responsibilities

• Act as first point-of-contact for client needs (phone use, linens, water).
• Monitor floor and maintain safety and cleanliness of spaces.
• Be visible on the floor and engage clients.
• Conduct regular facility walk-throughs.
• Create a supportive environment to promote client progress.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and retreats.
• Oversee client cubicle/bed area maintenance in a trauma-informed manner.
• Facilitate client engagement activities and groups.
• Complete incident reports and document in HMIS; email updates.
• Build trusting relationships using client-centered approaches and harm reduction.
• Intervene during crises to de-escalate situations; prioritize safety.
• Collaborate with team to provide integrated care for PEH.
