Job summary

The People Concern is seeking a Support Specialist at Kensington Campus in Lancaster, CA. This onsite role supports clients with daily needs, safety, and logistics, while applying trauma-informed care to promote stability.

You will collaborate with staff, document shift activities, and assist with client engagement and safety on a trauma-informed basis. Working Thursday–Monday, 7am–3:30pm, you’ll be part of an integrated team in a dynamic shelter environment dedicated to helping homeless

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience in related work.
• Ability to handle difficult situations with professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point-of-contact for client needs and requests.
• Monitor floors and common areas to maintain safety and cleanliness.
• Be visible on the floor and engage with clients.
• Conduct regular facility walk-throughs and document issues.
• Develop trusting client relationships using trauma-informed care.
• Intervene in crises and de-escalate situations.
• Maintain client confidentiality and follow HIPAA rules.
