Job summary

The People Concern on Kensington Campus in Lancaster, CA is hiring a Support Specialist to provide front-line support to clients in our 3001 - Lancaster Interim Housing program. This 100% onsite role reports to the Program Manager and supports clients with daily needs.

Expect a Monday through Friday schedule with weekend requirements as needed; a focus on dignity, safety, and empathetic service guides all duties in this client-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High school or GED required.
• Minimum one year of related work experience.
• Effective customer service skills and ability to handle difficult situations.
• Ability to work independently and think critically.
• Professional conduct in all circumstances; bilingual ability preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with non-violent crisis intervention and client-focused care.
• Able to use computerized database systems for information management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for immediate client needs and requests.
• Monitor the floor and ensure program guidelines are followed and site is safe.
• Be visible on the floor, engage with clients, and document activities.
• Complete incident reports and update shift logs as needed.
• Develop trusting, client-centered relationships using trauma-informed care.
• Intervene during crises to de-escalate situations and support safety.
• Collaborate with team to provide integrated care for clients experiencing homelessness and related challenges.
• Communicate effectively with management, peers, and clients.
• Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with policies and HIPAA.
