Job summary

Via is seeking an Operations Manager for the Student Transit team to ensure reliable, safe, and accessible transportation for students. This on-site role requires quick, data-driven decision making and hands-on leadership with drivers, school partners, and internal teams.

You will be based in the Sacramento, San Jose, or Santa Rosa area, working 4–5 days per week on-site, and you’ll drive continuous improvements to service quality and rider experience.

Qualifications

• Operational experience in people management, logistics, or process improvement.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong communication and relationship-building.
• Hands-on, field-based approach with proactive problem solving.
• Ability to balance tactical decisions with long-term operational planning.
• Commitment to student transportation and its impact on education.
• Willingness to be onsite 4–5 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Run daily onsite operations to provide safe, reliable student transportation.
• Make real-time decisions on driver supply, compliance, and student needs.
• Guide drivers and build strong working relationships with partners.
• Turn feedback into tangible operational improvements.
• Use data to diagnose issues and implement efficiency improvements.
• Serve as the operational bridge between schools, drivers, and Via teams.
