Job summary

Via is seeking an Operations Manager for the Student Transit team to run daily onsite operations and ensure safe, reliable student transportation. You will manage drivers, respond to real-time issues, and collaborate with school partners to improve service.

This is a full-time, in-person role requiring 4-5 days onsite in the Sacramento/San Jose region, with salary $65,000–$75,000 and a comprehensive benefits package including medical plans and 401K matching.

Qualifications

• Operationally experienced with a background in people management, logistics, or customer service.
• Hands-on, proactive field-based problem solver with field experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with drivers and partners.

Responsibilities

• Run the daily onsite operations of our service, ensuring safe, reliable and accessible transportation for riders.
• Make informed, real-time decisions about driver supply, compliance, student needs, and issues.
• Guide and support drivers, building trust and ensuring they deliver high-quality service to students and families.
• Turn student and district feedback into tangible improvements and partner with internal teams to implement changes.
• Use data and technology to monitor performance, diagnose problems and implement efficiency improvements.
• Serve as a critical operational bridge between school partners, drivers, and Via central teams.
