Job summary

Austal USA is seeking two Project Coordinator IIIs to support the Submarine Program, with one day shift and one night shift. The role reports to the Project Manager and supervises functional leads indirectly.

The position focuses on coordinating crafts, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to schedule and cost targets while maintaining safety and quality standards on the vessel construction project.

Qualifications

• Fully competent in industry related crafts or disciplines.
• Ability to read and interpret shipbuilding contracts and specifications
• Ability to read and interpret regulatory body and classification society guides, rules and regulations
• Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings and data and navigate with applicable software
• Minimum 5 years experience in a ship building, ship repair or similar construction and manufacturing industrial type environment with a minimum 3 years’ experience at a Foreman level (or equivalent) OR minimum 2 years as a Level II Project Coordinator.
• College degree in relevant field preferred
• Ability to use and interpret relevant cost and schedule (EVMS) data and use applicable software associated with these reporting functions
• Have a working knowledge and past experience with EVMS principles and processes
• Ability to understand schedule reporting tools and be competent in maintaining and validating schedule related data
• Competent in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) and PowerPoint software
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
• Willingness to work irregular and sometimes lengthy work schedule

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and guide functional project leads to meet milestone, cost, and schedule targets.
• Mentor lower-level Coordinators and resolve production sequence conflicts.
• Monitor safety, housekeeping, progress and staff performance daily.
• Attend and conduct meetings as required.
• Validate status reporting against actual work to support EVMS.
• Ensure compliance with quality procedures and contract requirements.
• Communicate with Project Manager and perform variance analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate resources and monitor rework/lessons learned for continuous improvement.
