Job summary

Austal USA in National City, CA, seeks a capable project coordinator to support ship repair programs aboard the vessel. You will coordinate daily status, maintain schedules, monitor costs, and ensure safety and quality.

You will participate in leadership meetings, assign actions to keep milestones on track, and travel as needed to support multiple repair efforts. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Some advanced education preferred.
• Three years' shipbuilding industry or five years' technical repair experience required; six years in lieu of shipbuilding may be considered.
• Proficient in reading engineering drawings and data.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Willing to travel 25-35% of calendar year.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily status reports and ensure projects charge to correct codes.
• Maintain daily presence aboard ship to monitor work in progress and safety.
• Participate in project leadership meetings and assign actions to meet milestones.
• Take corrective actions to meet schedules, control costs, and maintain quality.
• Explain variances and conduct variance analysis with project leadership.
• Maintain compliance with quality procedures and contracts and liaise with departments and authorities.
