Job summary

Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama is seeking a Senior Production Engineer to support Production by documenting changes and coordinating between Design Engineering and Production. The role involves leading Field Engineers I & II and ensuring timely communication across teams.

Applicants should have extensive shipyard design/construction experience, strong scheduling discipline, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Navis Works and Ship Constructor. Excellent written and verbal skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of shipyard design or construction experience OR 8 years with an Associate’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of production floor experience OR 6 years in a supervisory capacity on the production floor OR 3 years Austal experience as Field Engineer II.
  • Bachelor degree in engineering is a benefit; strong communication skills are essential.
  • Familiar with scheduling, able to meet strict deadlines; interacts with production and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support Production by documenting changes, answering questions and creating deck plate changes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication between Design Engineering and Production.
  • May lead work of Production Engineers I & II and provide input to evaluations.
