Job summary

Flowserve is seeking an Application Engineer to support design, installation, and operation of centrifugal and liquid ring pump systems at customer sites. The role includes on-site troubleshooting and a repair-center component in Detroit, MI, with emphasis on meeting customer needs and providing solutions.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, strong communication skills, and willingness for local and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree required.
• All levels of experience will be considered.
• In-plant operations experience highly desired.
• Knowledge of mechanical seals and rotating equipment, especially centrifugal and liquid ring vacuum pumps.

Responsibilities

• Communicate the needs of customers to Flowserve and be the primary source of information regarding design, application, installation, operation, and maintenance of centrifugal and liquid ring vacuum pumps and mechanical seals.
• Act as liaison between customers and Flowserve’s sales, reliability, customer service, and manufacturing teams.
• Troubleshoot technical problems at customer sites and at Flowserve repair centers.
• Prepare failure analysis reports and product performance reports; evaluate data to support repair or replacement recommendations.
• Present clear verbal and written technical explanations tailored to the audience.
• Assist in organizing the monthly Bad Actor meetings to monitor equipment performance.
• Provide technical guidance on installation and operation and ensure standardized procedures are followed.
