Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate in Madison, WI. This full-time, 100% onsite role sits in a hospital environment, with a Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm CST schedule, focused on guiding uninsured patients through federal/state medical or disability assistance programs.

You will perform bedside screenings, assist with applications, and ensure thorough documentation while delivering compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients’ rooms.
• Proficient experience using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Effective oral and written communication; multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal/state medical or disability assistance.
• Complete applications and follow through until approved.
• Document cases accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Maintain and manage the assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Handle calls and track enrollment and renewals for Medicaid patients.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone or queue.
• Assist applicants with gathering reports and arranging transportation as needed.
• Conduct in-person community visits to obtain documentation when required.
• Inform clients about approvals and denials of coverage.
