Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions seeks a dedicated Temporary Hospital Based Patient Advocate to guide uninsured hospital patients through Medicaid and other programs onsite at a Lexington, KY hospital. You will assess eligibility, complete applications, and work closely with hospital staff to ensure timely enrollment at bedside.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Adaptability to changing processes, computer systems and government programs.
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients rooms throughout scheduled work shift.
• Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Outlook.
• Effective communication both orally and written to a variety of individuals.
• Ability to multitask to meet performance metrics in a fast-paced environment.
• Hospital-Based Patient Advocates are expected to dress in accordance with client’s dress code.
• Hybrid positions require home internet connections meeting company speed criteria and adherence to remote work policy.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state and/or county medical or disability assistance.
• Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved.
• Document cases accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate in person and in writing with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Answer calls, make outbound calls, and track enrollment paperwork for Medicaid patients.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and the responsible government agency by phone when possible.
• Assist applicants with gathering records and arranging transportation if needed.
• Conduct in-person community visits to obtain documentation.
• Inform clients about approvals/denials per established protocols.
• Attend ongoing training on current rules for government programs.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
