Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate to guide uninsured hospital patients through medical and disability assistance programs. This onsite role places you at the patient bedside, helping determine eligibility and completing applications with compassion and accuracy.

This position requires weekend coverage, with a Thursday–Saturday 11:00am–7:30pm schedule, and attention to HIPAA while collaborating with hospital staff.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Adaptability to changing processes and government programs.
• Professional experience with state and federal programs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital setting.
• Dress code compliance.
• Hybrid work policy and remote work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county programs.
• Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved.
• Document cases accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate in person with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Answer calls, make outbound calls, and track enrollment and renewals for Medicaid applicants.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone or queue.
• Assist with gathering documents and arranging transportation if needed.
• Conduct in-person community visits to obtain documentation.
• Inform clients of approvals and denials of coverage in a timely manner.
• Attend required training and stay updated on rules and regulations.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
