Job summary

Acclivity Healthcare in Glendale, AZ is seeking a Financial Counselor for a full-time on-site role. You will educate patient families on insurance benefits and payment options, and assist uninsured patients in obtaining third-party coverage.

You will collaborate with the patient care team to ensure understanding of liability and coverage, and manage documentation and financial assistance packets. The position requires 2+ years of experience and AHCCCS knowledge.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of medical financial counselor experience required.
• Strong AHCCCS knowledge required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Explain relevant benefits and out-of-pocket amounts based on data obtained through payer websites.
• Determine patients’ ability to pay and review existing balances.
• Develop a comprehensive plan to cover out of pocket costs.
• Assist with the resolution of billing inquiries by coordinating with customer service.
• Provide patient estimates prior to service to help patients determine costs and payment options.
• Provide accurate and timely documentation for patient accounts explaining activities and interactions with family members, staff, and outside sources on behalf of the patient.
• Provide complete and orderly financial assistance packets to management for review and approval.
• Track all financial assistance applications in central repository.
• Work collaboratively with other departments, payers, and vendors on behalf of the patient.
• Maintain an understanding of Federal Marketplace, Medicare, AHCCCS, and third-party payer rules.
