Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Lead Financial Counselor who will guide and train Family Financial Counselors to educate families on insurance benefits, payment options, and out-of-pocket amounts due.

The role coordinates with the patient care team to ensure families understand liability and coverage. The lead will back up staff, participate in training programs, and stay current on federal and state payer rules, including AHCCCS and Medicare, to optimize government and commercial

Qualifications

• Associates degree in health care, business or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with HIPAA privacy act.
• Experience with HMOs and other third-party payers within and outside the United States.
• Experience with and knowledge of the Federal Marketplace, Medicare and other payer rules.
• Four (4) or more years of experience in a health care revenue cycle environment.

Responsibilities

• Train and perform quality assurance with family financial counselors to ensure duties are understood and performed to standard.
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, guarantors, insurers, clinical staff and management to promote teamwork.
• Fulfill duties of the Family Financial Services Counselor and back up coverage during PTO or high volume periods.
• Participate in hospital education programs to maintain skills.
• Provide input on staff performance to supervisors for annual review and corrective actions.
