Job summary

ABB is seeking a Resident Service Technician to deliver high-quality technical support at customer sites. You will perform installations, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring optimization and satisfaction.

The role is onsite at customer locations with up to 15% travel for training and cross-site support. Reporting to the Service Center Manager-AUPI West Region, you will work within ABB’s automation portfolio, using test equipment and electrical drawings to diagnose and fix issues on Quality

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related work/military experience required.
• HS diploma/GED and 7+ years of related work/military experience required.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi‑meters.
• Candidate should know how to identify voltage systems above 240 VAC/870 VDC.
• Mechanical/Electrical aptitude with basic electrical theory and safety.
• Read electrical drawings and troubleshoot up to 240 VAC/870 VDC; perform preventive maintenance.
• This role is resident at the customer location with up to 15% travel for training/other sites.
• Knowledge of the pulp & paper industry is a nice to have.

Responsibilities

• In this role, you will execute service work per instructions and ABB guidelines for Quality Control Systems.
• You will deliver quality customer service planning and meet customer expectations on timelines.
• You will communicate service timelines to the customer and identify improvement opportunities on site.
• You will perform field service tasks, identify technical issues, and analyze remotely or on site.
• You will prepare material lists and ensure availability of parts and equipment for service activities.
