Job summary

ABB in the Energy Industries Division seeks a Field Service professional to execute service work per instructions, in line with ABB quality and safety guidelines, and communicate work timelines to customers.

This on-site role is based in Fernandina Beach, FL, and involves troubleshooting sensors, electrical and control systems, performing preventive maintenance, documenting work, and collaborating with plant operators and ABB colleagues to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• HS diploma/GED and 2+ years of related experience required, or Associate's degree and 0+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related experience required.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters.
• Mechanical/Electrical aptitude, including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems; ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment; ability to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC.
• Comfortable using basic hand tools. Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.
• Basic understanding of the paper-making process and process control preferred.
• Travel up to 15% for training and assisting other sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality control hardware and software, troubleshoot sensors, and ensure ABB quality control solution is functioning.
• Resolve customer service-related issues on-site and communicate timelines with plant operators and ABB personnel.
• Be on-call for 24-hour emergency support and support some weekends as needed.
• Document work performed for preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Participate in upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers, coordinating with other groups.
• Coach and mentor technicians, supervise complex site activities, and provide technical guidance to colleagues.
