Job summary

Denton County Friends of the Family is seeking a compassionate Shelter Services Specialist to join our Residential Services team. The role provides onsite coverage at the emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, offering crisis intervention and supportive services to residents.

You will coordinate transportation, assist with basic needs, and connect residents with community resources while upholding shelter policies and reporting outcomes to the Director of

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be at least 23 years old and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety planning and crisis intervention for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
• Coordinate transportation and link residents to community resources.
• Conduct shelter intakes and supervise household responsibilities and supplies.
• Dispatch Survivor Advocates to Denton County Hospitals for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
• Provide callers with information regarding protective orders, crime victim’s compensation, and all agency services.
• Collect and report statistical data reflecting services provided and outcomes.
