Job summary

The Family Place is seeking a dedicated Resident Advocate in Dallas, TX to support survivors of family violence. You will help maintain a safe, welcoming shelter environment, provide emotional support, and work with the team to plan activities and coordinate services.

Responsibilities include intake support, crisis intervention, transportation coordination, and back-up hotline coverage. Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and strong communication and empathy skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Experience in residential settings or shelter environments preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support to residents through active listening and non-judgmental communication.
• Collaborate with Case Managers and staff on service updates for clients.
• Intervene in crises using de-escalation and crisis-intervention methods.
• Communicate pertinent client issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Assist with shelter intake, safety planning, and transportation coordination as needed.
• Co-facilitate resident meetings and support volunteer activities.
• Support shifts with hotline coverage and emotional support as needed.
