Job summary

The Family Place is seeking a part-time Resident Advocate to support survivors of family violence in a shelter setting. The role emphasizes creating a safe, welcoming environment, providing emotional support, facilitating client needs, and coordinating with case managers to ensure timely services.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, intake processes, safety planning, and assisting with everyday shelter operations, always focusing on dignity, respect, and empowerment for residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or similar or an associate degree with equivalent training and experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required for some roles.
• Knowledge of domestic violence and client trauma.

Responsibilities

• Provides emotional support to residential clients with active listening and non-judgmental communication.
• Collaborates with Case Managers and staff on service updates and client needs via documentation and communication.
• Intervenes in crisis situations using de-escalation and crisis intervention methods to ensure safety.
• Maintains intake processes including policies review, tours, paperwork, and access to immediate needs within 24 hours.
