Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX is seeking a compassionate Resident Advocate to support survivors of domestic violence in a safe, welcoming shelter. You will provide emotional support, assist with basic life skills, and help maintain a secure, clean environment while partnering with program staff to empower residents to rebuild their lives.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, intake assistance, inventory monitoring, coordinating transportation, and supporting volunteers and interns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or similar with 6 months of residential facility experience.
• Associate degree and equivalent training/experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support to clients in crisis through active listening.
• Collaborate with Case Managers and staff on client updates and needs.
• Intervene in crisis situations using de-escalation methods.
• Ensure intake processes cover shelter policies, tours, and essential supplies.
• Assist clients with life skills, daily planning, and organization.
• Monitor inventory and report replenishment needs.
• Transport clients when required and supervise volunteers.
