Job summary

The GEO Group in Texas seeks a qualified Physician to join our onsite medical team. The Physician will diagnose and treat detainees, manage the medical program, and serve as liaison with correctional officials while meeting contractual obligations.

Responsibilities include prescribing treatment, maintaining health records, supervising staff, and providing 24-hour on-call coverage. Candidates should have a medical degree, U.S.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited school and Texas/state licensure.
• Two years of direct work experience as a Physician.
• Completion of a U.S.-based residency program.
• Current DEA and DPS registration.
• Ability to provide independent, critical thinking and collaborate with subspecialists.
• Experience with electronic health records and detainee healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat detainees/inmates with a wide range of illnesses and injuries.
• Provide medical treatment and order studies and tests as required.
• Prescribe medications and manage ongoing pharmaceutical care.
• Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality per privacy laws.
• Collaborate with hospital medical team and other health professionals.
• Provide 24-hour on-call coverage.
• Identify appropriate care facilities and referral needs.
• Participate in quality assurance and mortality reviews.
