Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking a Physician for an onsite 1099 contract in Texas. The role requires diagnosing and treating detainees while coordinating with a multidisciplinary medical team and ensuring compliance with health records standards.

The physician will provide 24-hour on-call coverage, manage patient care under established guidelines, and refer to dental/psychiatric services as needed. A U.S.-based residency and DEA/DPS registration are required.

Qualifications

• Medical degree in medicine from an accredited school and licensed to practice in the state in which the facility is located.
• Two years of direct work experience as a Physician.
• Completion of a U.S.-based residency program required.
• Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration.
• Professional license must remain on file at all times.
• Ability to provide independent, critical thinking skills and collaborate with subspecialists.
• Experienced with Electronic Health Records systems.
• Ability to manage health care for detainees within a correctional setting.

Responsibilities

• The Physician examines and treats detainees/inmates across a wide range of illnesses.
• Provides 24-hour on-call coverage to advise nursing staff.
• Maintains clear health records and reports using the EHR system.
• Collaborates with hospital medical team, psychiatry, nurses, and administrative staff.
• Initiates referrals to dental and psychiatric services as needed.
