Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a licensed physician to provide medical care for detainees at a Texas facility. This 1099 contract role involves diagnosing illnesses, treating injuries, prescribing medications, and coordinating with the hospital medical team.

Applicants must hold a medical degree and U.S.-based residency, with DEA/DPS registration and board certification preferred. The role requires robust communication, discretion, and the ability to work with inmates and staff across shifts.

Qualifications

• Medical degree in medicine and licensed to practice in the state where the facility is located.
• Two years of direct work experience as a Licensed Physician preferred.
• Completion of a U.S.-based residency program required.
• Current DEA and D.P.S. Certificate of Registration required.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat detainees/inmates referred by nursing/professional staff.
• Manage and evaluate medical program activities per standards and contracts.
• Prescribe medications and review ongoing cases.
• Initiate dental and psychiatric referrals.
• Provide patients with health information to promote well-being.
