Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Physician for a 1099 contractor position. This full-time role (40 hours per week) involves providing primary care to detainees in a correctional setting, diagnosing a wide range of illnesses, and coordinating with specialists as needed.

The physician will manage medical program activities, communicate with detention officials, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Requirements include a medical degree, U.S.-based residency, state license, DEA and DPS

Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited school and licensed to practice as a physician in the state where the facility is located.
• Two years of direct work experience as a physician.
• Completion of a U.S.-based residency program.
• Current DEA and D.P.S. certificate of registration.

Responsibilities

• Examines and treats detainees/inmates for injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis and recovery.
• Provides medical treatment and orders studies, tests and ancillary services.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals and treatment regimens and reviews ongoing cases.
• Maintains health records and ensures patient confidentiality.
• Communicates with hospital teams and other health professionals; participates in continuing education.
