Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. in Robstown, TX seeks an experienced physician to provide comprehensive medical care to detainees, diagnose illnesses, manage care, prescribe medications, and coordinate referrals. You will collaborate with hospital teams and health professionals, with after-hours availability as needed.

Role is a 1099 contract, 40 hours per week, paying $150 per hour. Requires medical degree, license to practice in Texas, and US residency training.

Qualifications

Medical degree with state medical license required.
Two years of direct physician experience preferred.
US residency completion required.
Current DEA and DPS registration required.
Professional license must remain on file at facility.

Responsibilities

Examine and treat detainees/inmates referred by nursing staff to ensure proper injury care and disease management.
Manage and evaluate medical program activities per industry standards and contracts.
Prescribe medications and review cases requiring ongoing attention.
Initiate dental and psychiatric referrals as needed.
Document services and notes in patient records and communicate with hospital/mental health teams.
Be available 24 hours to advise staff as needed.
Stay current with professional education and participate in relevant societies.
Act as liaison between correctional officials, public agencies, and the facility.
