Job summary

GEO Reentry Services, LLC, located in New Jersey, seeks a licensed Physician to oversee medical care for detainees in a correctional setting. Must be board-certified/eligible, hold active DEA and DPS registrations, and provide 24-hour on-call coverage.

The Physician will diagnose and treat a broad range of conditions, manage the medical program, maintain electronic health records, and coordinate with hospital staff and specialists. This is a 1099 contractor position offering 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Medical degree and state license to practice in the facility's location.
• Two years of direct physician experience.
• US-based residency completion required.
• Current DEA and D.P.S. certificates required.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records and clinical documentation.
• Ability to interact effectively with detainees and detention staff.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat detainees to ensure proper injury care and disease management.
• Provide medical treatment and order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
• Prescribe medications and monitor ongoing cases; educate on vaccine use.
• Discuss potential side effects with patients and ensure allergy info is current.
• Advise on lifestyle and diet changes to improve health.
• Maintain clear health records and correspondence; use EHR systems.
• Collaborate with hospital teams and specialists; ensure continuity of care.
• Attend educational activities and maintain licensure and CME requirements.
• Provide 24-hour on-call coverage for detainee care.
• Review charts for quality assurance and countersign orders.
• Determine level of care and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
