Job summary

HITT Contracting is seeking a Commercial Construction Project Engineer (PE) for the HITT Futures Program in Raleigh, NC. This one-year, on-site development role is designed for graduates, Veterans, or passionate individuals, with mentorship and hands-on learning aimed at advancing to an assistant-level project manager or superintendent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Military experience or an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience on commercial job sites is strongly preferred.
• Passion for the construction industry and on-site work.
• Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Commit to being fully onsite for the 12-month training program to shadow, learn, and gain hands-on experience on assigned projects.
• Demonstrate training topics through each phase with performance reviews on a 4-month cadence.
• Follow directions from the Futures Program Sponsor to develop professional skills.
• Set up and maintain the jobsite office and records (project directory, logs, correspondence).
• Make updates to as-built drawings and interpret basic coordination drawings.
• Assist in specific construction tasks and participate in site inspections to ensure quality and safety.
• Assist Project Managers with budgeting, client management, and logistics as needed.
