Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. The CAD Model Design Intern will support the Entry Systems Modeling project to develop free flight and forced oscillation model design for rapid prototype fabrication.

You will develop CAD models (.igs/.stp), configure oscillation configurations, and design geometry to accommodate mounting interfaces and a movable center of gravity.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 2 years' CAD model development experience or 2 CAD course semesters.
• Experience with .igs or .stp, and native CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces.
• Design geometry for thermal inset fasteners for mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing methods.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
