Job summary

KNAPP is seeking a Resident Engineer to provide first‑class maintenance support for automated storage and retrieval systems at customer sites in the United States. You will apply electrical, mechanical, and automation know‑how to maximize uptime and equipment efficiency.

The role emphasizes hands‑on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and installation of conveyor and automation equipment, with collaboration across customer teams and strict safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation or related field.
• 3+ years direct experience preferred.
• 3+ years demonstrated experience in repairs on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems including 480VAC, 240VAC, 120VAC, 48VDC, 24VDC, VFDs, and PLCs (Siemens preferred).
• 3+ years experience in equipment maintenance, modifications and design preferred.
• Experience in repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of PLC-based machinery, highly automated and robotic systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and rectify electro-mechanical faults and provide preventative measures.
• Provide emergency breakdown and specialist engineering support.
• Install, calibrate, and test automation equipment and conveyor systems.
• Monitor systems and ensure proper operation; respond to equipment needs.
• Perform mechanical strip-down/re-assembly, wiring, machine calibration and testing.
• Engineer equipment modifications and designs to complete troubleshooting of PLC-based machinery and robotics.
