Job summary

AIR Communities in Durham, NC is hiring a Maintenance Technician to work onsite at our apartment community. You will provide excellent service to residents, perform turns, and handle basic repairs to keep units ready for move-ins.

You will troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances, and may mentor other technicians. The role demands a flexible schedule and strong customer service mindset.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of maintenance experience.
• Proficient in two technical trades (plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, carpentry).
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, 7-day work weeks (season dependent) and on-call shifts.
• Reliable mode of transportation to respond to emergency requests.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent service to residents and assist team members.
• Follow AIR’s process for basic apartment turns to prepare units for new move-ins.
• Perform resident-requested repairs and routine maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances).
• May train other Maintenance Technicians and support skill development.
• May assist with vendor quality management and move-in/move-out inspections.
• Responsibilities vary by team needs and season.
