Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on active construction sites and plants. You will capture data, process scans, and deliver CAD-ready meshes and reports for engineers and clients.

Your role includes ensuring data integrity on site, coordinating travel to hubs, and building documentation for each project. Prior scanning experience with Artec systems is required or demonstrated capability.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects; provide examples.
Familiarity with Artec Studio or similar scan-processing software; meshing, registration, export.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and components before pours or repairs.
Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlap zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before departure.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt coordinates vs. drawings.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody.
Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized.
Coordinate site access, permits, and safety with superintendents.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
