Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on diverse construction projects, verify data on-site, and process data into meshes, reports, and CAD-ready outputs.

You will work with Artec Studio, CAD tools, and metrology reporting, with responsibilities ranging from field scans to data processing and client-ready deliverables. Occasional travel to regional hubs is required.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld scanner on real projects.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
Familiarity with CAD and able to read structural or fabrication drawings.
Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
Able to travel and fly with equipment as assigned.
Experience with scan-to-CAD, Geomagic Design X, or metrology reporting is a plus.
ACI, NICET, or ICC certifications a plus — we sponsor them.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement, and for damaged structures and machinery.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export formats.
Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt reports.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
