Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo/Eva scanners on concrete, metal, and mechanical projects. You will capture data on site, process it in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-based deliverables such as meshes, reports, and CAD-ready files.

Responsibilities include planning scans, verifying data on site, and producing reports and scan-to-CAD outputs. This role requires travel to regional hubs and field sites, with sponsorship for relevant

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects; examples required.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio for mesh cleanup, registration, and export.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural or fabrication plans.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to lift and carry equipment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable record; able to travel and fly with equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, corrosion, and structural components.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering; hand-clean meshes when needed.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with project staff; travel to hubs as assigned.
