Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo) on concrete, steel, and pipe projects. You will capture data on site, process with Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD files and reports for clients.

You should have hands-on experience with handheld structured-light or laser scanners, CAD reading, and be comfortable on active construction sites; travel and lifting are required; sponsorship for certain certifications is available.

Qualifications

Experience operating handheld 3D scanners on real projects; provide examples.
Proficient with Artec Studio for mesh cleanup, registration, and export.
Ability to read Structural/Fabrication drawings in CAD programs.
Comfort on active construction sites; ability to carry equipment and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld scans of rebar, embeds, and fasteners before pours.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports against drawings.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) or clean meshes for modeling.
Document capture procedures and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
