Job summary

800 Baystate Mercy Hospital, LLC is seeking a Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) to provide safety observation and compassionate care. The role includes monitoring patients at risk of self-harm or harm to others, assisting with activities of daily living, and escalating changes to the nurse in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include documenting every 15 minutes, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting the care team with patient-centered interactions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant patient care experience.
• Preferred 2 years of experience with behavioral health patients.
• Demonstrates competency in reading comprehension, writing and following instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate care to patients from child to geriatric.
• Develop and maintain respectful, empathetic interactions with patients and families.
• Provide safety observation, report patient status every 15 minutes to the RN, and document.
• Receive shift reports from the RN and outgoing BRT, and communicate for continuity of care.
• Maintain a safe environment, identify ligature risks, and accompany patients off-unit as needed.
• Understand care for diagnoses such as suicidal ideation, eating disorders, withdrawal, etc.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and communicate with sensitivity.
• Participate in trainings, validations, and staff meetings; complete mandatory in-services.
• Demonstrate competency for one-to-one observation per policy.
