Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) at Baystate Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA. The BRT provides safety observation to patients, assisting with activities of daily living, and maintaining a therapeutic environment as part of the health care team.

Responsibilities include timely reporting to the RN, documenting every 15 minutes, and participating in mandatory trainings. Minimum 1 year of patient care experience required; 2 years preferred in behavioral health

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant patient care experience.
• Preferred 2 years of experience with behavioral health patients.
• Demonstrates competency in reading, writing and following instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety observation for assigned patients and document every 15 minutes.
• Assist with activities of daily living as directed by the RN.
• Maintain a safe environment and de-escalate when necessary.
• Report patient changes to the nurse immediately and communicate observations.
• Participate in competency validations, trainings, and staff meetings.
• Transports patients when required and supports care team so patients are safe.
• Remain awake and alert during one-to-one observations as needed.
• Attend handoffs and ensure continuity of care with oncoming staff.
• Recognize and report safety hazards and risk factors promptly.
