Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to provide one-on-one support to a Grade 4 student with a disability and assist a certificated teacher with instructional and day-to-day activities.

The position requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and training on the district’s requirements. Duties include assisting with instruction, daily care, data collection, and supervision across school activities.

Qualifications

• Mandatory paraeducator qualification in Washington state.
• Experience assisting students with disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to support instructional activities and maintain student data.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups under supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care needs.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transition periods.
• Record student progress and communicate with teachers and staff.
• Assist in adaptive use of materials and equipment for students with disabilities.
• Transport or accompany students on field trips or off-site activities as needed.
• Support teachers during assessments and standardized tests.
• Maintain attendance and report any concerns to supervisors.
