Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a 1:1 Education Support Professional to support a male 4th grade student in the LRC program. The role requires completing the General Paraeducator Certificate and 28 hours of district training within specified timeframes.

The position involves direct instructional support, personal care, and collaboration with teachers to implement IEP goals while maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours or passing state test to demonstrate knowledge.
• One year of experience with special needs individuals preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to be trained within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups under teacher direction.
• Assist with daily living activities as needed and monitor student safety.
• Supervise and support students during recess, lunch, and transportation.
• Record progress and maintain communication with teaching staff and parents as assigned.
• Assist in adapting materials and activities for students with disabilities.
• Support classroom management and implement discipline per district guidelines.
