Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a dedicated paraeducator to provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support for students with disabilities during the school day.

You will assist certificated teachers with instructional and personal care activities, help maintain records, and participate in district training to earn the General Paraeducator Certificate while supporting a diverse student population.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours and one year of experience in working with students with disabilities or related training.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to be trained within first 90 days of employment.
• Must attend district restraint training and maintain certification.
• Fingerprints and criminal background clearances are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with self-care activities and daily living needs for students as assigned.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transportation as needed.
• Maintain student records and communicate progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
• Assist in adapting materials and activities and support classroom management.
